MARYNA

I met Maryna - a Ukranian artist, photographer and model - on the beach in Sri Lanka. Maryna jumped to aid the rescue of my camera, which had just been consumed by a freak wave.

Unfortunately the camera didn’t survive,
but something more special did.

Bpth of us as solo travellers on a trip in our mid 30s having big existential reflections, we talked openly where we saw ourselves in the world. Maryna spoke to me about her feelings of growing older as a woman and as a person who cannot return to their home due to war.

Days later we got together to shoot something that simply captured her happiness in these moments in Sri Lanka. Once I returned home and developed the film, Maryna
