MARYNA

I met Maryna - a Ukranian artist, photographer and model - on the beach in Sri Lanka. Maryna jumped to aid the rescue of my camera, which had just been consumed by a freak wave on the beach.

Unfortunately the camera didn’t survive, but something more special did.

Both of us as solo travellers having big existential reflections, we talked openly where we saw ourselves in the world. Maryna spoke to me about her feelings of growing older as a woman and as a person who cannot return to their home due to war.

Days later we got together to shoot something that
simply captured her happiness in these moments in Sri Lanka.
